Alexa App Redesign

Challenge Description

It was a 1 week design challenge to re-imagine & redesign the Alexa mobile app to be more intelligent / user-friendly. 
- Part I (20%) - Identify a problem, come up with a solution and create user flow / site map.
- Part II (80%) - Visual Redesign: at least 4 high fidelity mobile screens emphasizing the problem and solution I came up in Part. Design should emphasize proposed improvements upon the current app

What is Alexa app?

Alexa, Amazon's virtual personal assistant. It lives inside the company's Echo smart speaker, among other devices, and offers users the ability to dictate commands to the assistant to control products throughout their home.

Challenges 🤔

I had one week to complete the challenge and I never used Alexa before! I bought it through Amazon Prime to get it the next day, and tested it myself! Then I found the bellow issues:
• Absence of on boarding process about Alexa.
• Unclear, long and complicated process for setting up a new device.
• Home Page is not useful Hard to know what Alexa could offer.
• Poor visual interface (colors, typography..etc)
•Customer Reviews is 2.6 out of 5

Solutions I worked on

• Simplifying the signing up process.
• Simplifying setting up a new device.
• Enabling users to understand how Alexa’s app works.
• Engage users with the skills, smart home and many more features.
• Redesign the brand identity to maintain a cohesive design throughout the app.
